What Do We Learn and

How Do We Support Each Other?

Most workplaces have a code that governs behaviours and relationships between people. It is no surprise therefore that one of the most important factors for many in choosing a school is the way people are treated.

At Sunnybank Hills State School we have a simple code that typifies how each and everyone should act in the school.  All children are taught the Code of Behaviour and have it translated into everyday life to suit their age level by their teacher.

Code of
Behaviour

At our school we believe in the 3R’s:

ü     Respect

ü     Responsibility

ü     Rights

Therefore our school rules are:

ü     Respect the rights of self and others

-         to feel safe

-         to teach, learn and play

ü     Respect our environment

ü     Act safely at all times

This means we must be responsible by reporting when rules are broken.

A Responsible Thinking Room is operated each lunchtime for 30 minutes for children who have infringed the rules in the playground.  Before the children are asked to attend a letter is sent home to parents to inform them of the reason for the withdrawal from the playground. The purpose of the Responsible Thinking Room is for children to face a consequence for incorrect action, and also discuss how they will better handle the situation the next time.
