A Message from the Principal

A warm welcome to our school website.

We have tried to put information on our website that provides the community, especially parents and prospective parents information about our school community.

Sunnybank Hills State School was established in1979 and since then has grown to a school of approximately 1000 students.

I often say that our school can be this big because of the nature of the students and their supportive families. In addition our grounds are large and there is plenty of space for students to play.

Our community is comprised of students from a variety of cultural backgrounds and this gives an extra richness to teaching and learning in classrooms.

Our curriculum is basically a blend of old and new. We have expectations for the basics of literacy and numeracy in each year level. Our curriculum tasks are based around very real life tasks in each year level. You can read more about this in other sections of our website.

We have extensive extra curricular activities to offer.

Our school has an excellent music program with numerous choral groups and string and bans groups. These groups regularly perform at compettioions and achieve excellent results.

A variety of sports teams are offered on a Friday afternoon to year 5,6 and 7 students. Soccer, tennis, cricket, rugby, netball and softball are some examples.

In addition afterschool programs are held in our facilities either on a regular ongoing basis or a "one off" basis. Some of those on offer at present include; basketball, Tae kwondo, speed soccer and keyboard lessons. These lessons and programs are usually run on a user pays basis.

If you have any queries regarding our school please contact us.
